This WP Stager Integration setup guide will walk you through setting up the WP Stager Integration plugin on your WordPress site and should only take you a few minutes. Feel free to reach out if you get stuck!

1. Download and install the WP Stager Integration plugin

Before you start, make sure you have purchased a license by subscribing to a plan. You can do this through the Billing page in your dashboard. Then, log in to your dashboard and navigate to the Licenses page. In the license you want to configure, enter the domain you would like to use this license for. This has to be the full URL of your site, starting with https://. For example: https://your-site.com.

Add your domain to a license to connect a license to your website.

After saving, the Configure license button will become enabled. Click Configure license to continue.

This will take you to the page where you can download the WP Stager Integration plugin. Download the WP Stager Integration plugin and install it on your WordPress site running on the domain you’ve entered in the previous step. The domain you’ve entered will also show on this page as a confirmation. If the domain looks incorrect, go back and update it.

💡 If you don’t know how to install a plugin on your WordPress site, please follow the instructions from the WordPress documentation.

Download the WP Stager Integration plugin and install it on your site.

2. Complete the plugin setup after installation

After you have activated the WP Stager Integration plugin on your site, the WP Stager Integration admin page will be become available in your WordPress admin area. Go to the WP Stager Integration page and enter your license key to get started.

💡 The plugin will automatically show the domain you should enter in the previous steps. If this domain is different than the domain you’ve entered, go back and enter the domain that is shown here.

After activating the plugin, enter your license key to get started.

After activating your license, the plugin will generate a so called Stager Webhook URL. You must copy this URL, and enter it in Stager. To do this, copy the URL shown next to Stager Webhook URL.

Copy the Stager Webhook URL from the plugin page.

Then, log in to your Stager account and go to Settings → Integrations and open the Publication channel you wish to connect. If no Publication channels exist yet, then first create a new one.

💡 If you need help setting up your Stager account, here’s more information about Stager Publication channels.

Navigate to your existing Stager publication channel, or create a new one.

Then, in the Publication channel settings, paste the Stager Webhook URL you just copied.

Paste the Stager Webhook URL in your Stager publication channel.

In your Stager publication channel, set “Data set” to “Extended”. Then, under the Testing section, copy the Authentication token. You will need to enter this token in the WP Stager Integration page in the admin area of your site.

Copy the Authentication token from you Stager publication channel.

Go back to the WP Stager Integration setup page on your site, and paste the copied Authentication token.

Paste the copied authentication token in the WP Stager Integration setup page.

That’s it! You have configured the plugin successfully!

3. Enable automatic syncing

Automatic syncing is enabled by default. However, before the WP Stager Integration plugin can sync Stager event data to your site, Stager must first perform an initial sync. Please make sure to trigger an initial sync from your Stager account, through Stager → Settings → Integrations → Your publication channel → Under the Testing section, next to Initial sync, click Send upcoming events to sync upcoming events, (or Send all events to also sync past events, if necessary — This will take longer however).

Click “Send upcoming events” to sync all upcoming events, or “Send all events” to include past events (the latter will take longer, however).

Then after a few minutes, perform your first sync manually WP Stager Integration → Synced events → Sync now. Your events will now sync to your site!

💡 If you ever get stuck or have a question, please check our FAQs, our Free Integration Service, our paid Full Integration Service, or reach out to us!

Troubleshooting

If your events are not syncing to your site, please check the following:

  1. Are the events you want to sync actually published to the publication channel? In Stager, the publication channel checkbox needs to be checked for every event you want to publish: Go to the event you want to publish → Publicity (tab) → Publication (section) → My channels → Check the checkbox next to the publication channel. Then under Publishing my channels, make sure the Publish box is checked. If this value is set to “Schedule to publish on…” it will be published on the date you choose. Save the event if any changes have been made.
  2. Do the events you want to sync have a status that is published to the feed? Any event with the status set to “Option” won’t be published to the feed: Go to the event you want to publish → Main (tab) → Event status → Make sure it is not set to “Option”.
  3. Then, go to your site and request an update through the plugin’s settings → the Synced data sub page (in the sidebar menu) → Sync now. After a few minutes the events should appear on your site.

If you don’t see any events after syncing, make sure to trigger an initial sync from your Stager account, through Stager → Settings → Integrations → Your publication channelUnder the Testing section, next to Initial sync, click Send upcoming events to sync upcoming events, or Send all events to also sync past events. Then after a few minutes, try to sync again from your site through the plugin’s settings → the Synced data sub page (in the sidebar menu) → Sync now.

If it still doesn’t work, click Send upcoming events or Send all events again and wait 30 minutes.

If your site still doesn’t sync the events, please get in touch, and we’ll help you out!

This could be because of a number of reasons:

  • The “Calendar styling” setting might be disabled. Enable it through WP Stager Integration → Settings → Calendar styling.
  • The default calendar view might be configured as “List”. You can manage the default calendar view through WP Stager Integration → Settings → Default calendar view.
  • The method you used to render the calendar (block editor, shortcode, etc) might specify the view as “list”. See the documentation for examples on how to change the calendar’s “view” option.

Please verify that the “Calendar Styling” setting is enabled through WP Stager Integration → Settings → Calendar styling.

This setting exists to allow users as much freedom as they need to style calendars themselves.

You can enable/disable these labels globally through the WP Stager Integration → Settings → Enable day labels / Enable week labels / Enable month labels / Enable year labels.

If your calendar is added as a block in the block editor, you can modify its settings from there.

If you’ve added your calendar as a shortcode, please refer to the Shortcode documentation to see how to edit the calendar appearance using shortcodes.

By default, event pages are disabled. You can enable event pages by adding a “permalink base” for event pages through WP Stager Integration → Settings → Events (tab) → Permalink base. When you enter a value here, event pages become enabled, as well as an additional setting to manage the permalink structure. This way, events in calendars will get a clickable link.
